SOA & Web Services

Modern enterprises depend on dozens of applications — ERP systems, CRM platforms, third-party APIs and homegrown services — that must exchange data reliably in real time. SoftRoute's SOA and web services practice designs integration architectures that treat every capability as a reusable, interoperable service, eliminating point-to-point spaghetti and giving your organisation the agility to adapt as your technology landscape evolves.

Our architects bring deep expertise in REST and SOAP standards, OpenAPI specification, enterprise service bus platforms (MuleSoft, IBM MQ, WSO2) and cloud-native integration patterns. Whether you are exposing internal capabilities as APIs, consolidating legacy interfaces behind a modern gateway, or decomposing a monolith into microservices, we deliver architectures that are observable, secure and built to scale.

We follow API-first design principles — defining service contracts, schemas and governance policies before writing a single line of code — so integration work delivers lasting reuse rather than one-off connections.

What We Offer

Service Capabilities

Comprehensive integration capabilities designed to unify your enterprise landscape and accelerate digital agility.

Service-Oriented Architecture

Design and implement SOA frameworks that expose business capabilities as loosely coupled, interoperable services — reducing integration complexity and enabling rapid capability reuse.

REST & SOAP APIs

End-to-end API development using REST and SOAP standards — from contract definition and OpenAPI/WSDL documentation to versioning, rate limiting, authentication and developer portal publishing.

Enterprise Service Bus

Implement ESB solutions on MuleSoft, IBM App Connect, WSO2 or Azure Integration Services — centralising message routing, transformation, orchestration and protocol mediation across your enterprise.

Microservices Architecture

Decompose monolithic applications into independently deployable microservices with well-defined contracts, containerised on Kubernetes and managed through CI/CD pipelines for continuous delivery.

Web Service Integration

Connect SaaS platforms, ERP systems, CRMs, payment gateways and third-party data providers through secure, monitored integrations — with full error handling, retry logic and audit logging.

Legacy System Modernisation

Wrap legacy applications with modern API facades, gradually strangling outdated interfaces and migrating core logic to cloud-native services — preserving business continuity throughout the transition.

How We Work

Our Engagement Process

A structured 5-step approach from landscape assessment to production — built for zero-disruption delivery and long-term integration health.

1

Architecture Assessment & Discovery

We audit your current integration landscape — mapping every system, interface and data flow — to identify bottlenecks, technical debt and opportunities for consolidation before proposing any solution.

2

Service Design & Contract Definition

Our architects define service contracts using OpenAPI or WSDL — specifying endpoints, data models, error responses and security schemes — establishing a shared truth before any development begins.

3

Development & Stub Testing

Services are developed iteratively with mocked stubs enabling consumer teams to integrate in parallel. Unit tests, schema validation and security scans run automatically on every commit via CI/CD pipelines.

4

System Integration Testing

End-to-end SIT in a production-mirrored environment validates all integrations under realistic load — covering happy paths, error conditions, timeout behaviours and failover scenarios before any production deployment.

5

Deployment & Post-Go-Live Support

Managed rollout with blue-green or canary deployment strategies, live monitoring dashboards and a dedicated support window — ensuring rapid incident response in the critical post-launch period.

FAQ

Common Questions

Answers to the questions we hear most often about SOA & Web Services.

We work across REST (JSON/XML), SOAP (WSDL/XSD), GraphQL, gRPC, OData and event-driven protocols including AMQP, MQTT and Apache Kafka. API management is typically implemented on AWS API Gateway, Azure APIM, MuleSoft Anypoint or Kong. Our team selects the right standard based on your consumer requirements, latency needs and governance policies.
Yes. Legacy integration is a core strength. We use the strangler fig pattern to wrap legacy systems with modern API facades, exposing their capabilities through standardised interfaces without requiring a big-bang rewrite. This allows you to progressively migrate logic to modern services while keeping business operations uninterrupted.
An Enterprise Service Bus is a middleware layer that routes, transforms and orchestrates messages between systems — replacing point-to-point integrations with a managed hub. It suits enterprises with many heterogeneous systems requiring centralised governance. For simpler scenarios or greenfield cloud architectures, we may recommend lightweight API gateways or event-streaming platforms instead. We always recommend the right tool for your specific context.
We never advocate a full rewrite. Instead we apply domain-driven design to identify bounded contexts within the monolith, then extract services incrementally — starting with the highest-value or most rapidly changing domains. Each extracted service gets its own data store, CI/CD pipeline and API contract. The monolith shrinks over time while the new microservices estate grows, eliminating the risk of a single large-bang migration.
